Silhouette

Long Range 22

Come out and shoot in a .22 long range silhouette match

Updated July 9th, 2021

Matches are scheduled for the third Saturday of the month, but check the events calendar here for the current month. Practice range time is available from 1:00-3:00 on the Friday prior to scheduled matches.

We use .22 rim fire rifles chambered for .22 long rifle ammunition. The course of fire consists of 40 shots for score, 10 at each animal. The chickens are shot standing off hand at 50 yards. The remaining targets are shot prone or sitting from cross sticks or a bipod. Pigs are set at 100 yards, turkeys at 150 yards, and rams at 200 yards. Occasionally the course of fire varies for a specific match. Check the current month match bulletin for details. Awards are given for Class B through master scores, match winner, youth, and high winner.

Due to range limitations and in the interest of completing the match in a reasonable time frame, the number of shooting positions is limited to 32 spread across 4 relays of 8 shooters each. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and walk-ons will be accepted the day of the match only as positions are available. Pre-registration will accommodate the first three relays. If a fourth relay is necessary it will be squadded the morning of the match.

You will need between 60 and 70 rounds of ammunition and standard safety gear for eye and ear protection. The match fee is $10 and sign in starts at 9:00am on match day. Coffee will be provided, bring your own lunch. Depending on the number of shooters we are usually done by 2:30-3:00pm. Bring your .22 and have some fun.

Monthly Match Bulletin

The intent is to keep it updated no later than a week before the match.

Black Powder Cartridge Rifle (BPCR)

Matches temporarily suspended due to lack of participation.

The matches are scheduled for the first Sunday of each month but check the activity calendar here for the current month.

We use black powder cartridge rifles with black powder and soft lead bullets. In general we follow the NRA rules for BPCR Silhouette. Our longest range is 200 yards so all targets are shot at 200 yards and our longer range targets are scaled down for the distance. There are two classes, one for open sights and one for scope sights. The match consists of 40 shots for score, 10 at each animal. The chickens are shot standing off hand and the remaining targets are shot prone or sitting from cross sticks. Awards given for class B through master shooter scores, match winner, youth, and high woman.

You will need between 50 and 60 rounds of ammunition and standard safety gear for eye and ear protection. The match fee is $10 and sign in starts at 9:00 AM on match day. Coffee and snacks available as well as lunch for a donation to pay for food. Depending on the number of shooters we are usually done by 2:30 to 3:00 PM. Bring your rifle and have some fun!!
